Hi Josie,

Thanks for your comment. I think most nonprofit folks can relate to this scenario--myself included--which is what makes long term strategic planning so difficult. And, of course you want to have some way to show--even to just yourself--that the work you are doing is having a positive impact. Two things: Fist, I think evaluation is something that can start very small and very qualitative. What type of an organization do you work with? I'd be more than happy to brainstorm an idea. Second, volunteers! This could be a very exciting skills-based project for a business professional looking to be involved with the great work you are doing. Does your organization utilize skills-based volunteers? Volunteers can help with fundraising and other nonprofit management activities as well...freeing up your overcrowded schedule. I am skills-based volunteer as well as manage skills-based volunteers for New York Women Social Entrepreneurs. I'd be more than happy to share some more thoughts on the subject.

Hope you have a great Tuesday!

All the best,

Lauren

Hmmm.... pretty unimpressed. If you have no BUDGET to help those who need your help, and no money to pay staff (thank God for volunteers)! And no time to fundraise because you are visiting those clients who need your help (thanks again Volunteers!) tell me - Where does the magic money and time come from to do this kind of evaluation????
